Cuba and US - Different Directions?
Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 6:20PM Cuba has recently made some small internal changes that give more freedom - limited as it is - to their citizens while the US continues to restrict our liberties. Cuban citizens are now, for the first time in decades, allowed to buy and sell houses and cars and will be allowed to take out loans for home improvements or to start or expand private businesses. Additionally hundreds of thousands of small business licenses have been granted with private business actually encouraged for a change while our government continues to add regulation to regulation to make it harder and harder to open and stay afloat in small business.
These trends in the US need to be reversed soon if the economy is to make a sustained economy. Cuba is laying off government workers while we’re hiring more. Cuba figured out that many government jobs were redundent and unnecessary while we look as the government as a jobs program first, and servent of the people last if at all.
